City house prices in the UK outpaced earnings growth by 11% in 2018, with homes at their least affordable leve since 2007.

That's according to Lloyds Bank's annual Affordable Cities Review, which ranked cities according to how far average earnings cover house prices.

Mortgage products director Andrew Mason said: 'Buying a home in UK cities remains challenging, as average house prices are outpacing wage growth. 

'Over the past five years, more than half of northern cities have made the UK top 10 in house price growth, whereas over a longer period, southern cities dominate.'
