Q&A with George Renouf, head of investments at North Capital Management, Edinburgh (pictured below):

What is your typical client demographic?

First generation wealth creators – driven, successful and demanding of an exceptional level of service quality.

What challenges are facing your local area?

Edinburgh is a thriving financial centre that has put pressure on the jobs market. This means it can be difficult finding quality individuals to join our business.

What is the best thing about living in your region?

The way the Edinburghers cope with hosting the world’s largest annual international arts festival without even noticing it’s going on.

What is a typical saying in your region?
‘You’ll have had your tea’, which suggests a certain reluctance to give a visitor their ‘tea’ (dinner) when they arrive at your house, reflecting the frugal nature of the Scots.

Bullish or bearish?

We remain cautiously optimistic. Robust global growth and positive company earnings provide a reasonable backdrop for global equities. We also allocate selectively to private equity and hedge funds, which also have potential to perform in this environment.

What is your office motto?

Make it work!

What differentiates your region?

The weather!
