Investec AM makes key hire for sustainable investment arm

Investec Asset Management has boosted its sustainable investment capability by appointing a portfolio manager to focus on renewable energy, decarbonisation, electrification and resource efficiency.

Deirdre Cooper joins from Ecofin where for the past seven years she was a partner, head of research and co-portfolio manager of the Ecofin Vista and Global Renewable Infrastructure fund. She also served as co-portfolio manager of several institutional mandates.

Prior to this she worked as a vice president at Morgan Stanley, where she founded the firm's European clean tech group, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Investec AM joint CEO Mimi Ferrini said: 'Deirdre brings deep insight and an excellent track record in the area of environmental investing and decarbonisation.

'Positioning her expertise within our investment team provides our clients with a compelling investment opportunity and reflects the increased focus on the energy transition and the deep integration of ESG factors.’
