How Kames Property Income got Brexit-ready

Kames Property Income co-manager Richard Peacock says the fund is positioned to withstand the widely anticipated Brexit redemption stampeded.

Since the start of the year Peacock and co-manager David Wise have upped liquidity to over 20% and there are more sales underway to increase the fund's cash levels further.

The fund was one of the few not to have to to suspend dealing in the aftermath of the 2016 EU referendum result and it is positioned even more defensively currently.

'For us this has involved the sale of 15 assets in the first 10 weeks of of 2018. These disposals demonstrate that despite market uncertainty, there is still an active market for smaller lot sizes,' he said.

'Sales have been conducted across different sectors to a variety of different purchasers.'


The Kames Property Income fund is up 10.3% over three years to the end of February, compared to a UK Physical Property sector average return of 5.7%.
