Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management has hired Neil Smith as investment director within its Worcester office.
Smith joins from Seven Investment Management (7IM), where he worked with advisers for four years.
Smith's hire boosts Canaccord's midlands presence following the acquisition of Worcester-based wealth firm McCarthy Taylor in January, adding around £171 million in assets.
Canaccord chief executive David Esfandi (pictured) said: 'Developing our regional network and building our presence throughout the UK is a key element of our strategy and the Midlands is an area where we are expanding our presence.
'We are delighted to welcome Neil on board.'
Before working for 7IM, Smith was a wealth manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) for more than a decade.
The firm promoted Simon Raggett to head of the Worcester office last October. Raggett joined the company when it took over Hargreave Hale in 2017.
Raggett said: 'We are really pleased to have someone of Neil’s calibre joining the Worcester team.
'Working with intermediaries and private clients, Neil has the right blend of experience and will help to strengthen our presence in the region.'
Canaccord has £27 billion in assets under management (AUM).
