Brown Shipley taps Arbuthnot for court of protection vet

Brown Shipley has continued a recent hiring spree, appointing a head to its court of protection and personal injury team.

Richard McGregor (pictured) joins from Arbuthnot Latham, where he had held a similar position since 2016.

Previously, he spent four years at Barclays Wealth and Investment as vice president of the court of protection team and 10 years at Towry specialising in court of protection and personal injury cases.

He will be based in London, leading the firm’s specialist service to clients across the UK.

Head of private banking at Brown Shipley Guy Healey said: 'I am confident that [Richard ] will build significantly upon our successful track record of serving our clients in this highly specialist area, through our integrated wealth management proposition,' he added.

McGregor added: 'Protected parties and their legal representatives require a highly specialist service from a dedicated team, and I am excited to be joining a business with a clear growth trajectory and an ambition to innovate and evolve in order to best serve its clients.

In September, Brown Shipley expanded its Manchester office after poaching client director Paul Smith from accounting firm Mazars.

It had previously hired Toby Vaughan as chief investment officer following the double hire of Tony Conway as client director and Nish Patel as a lending specialist.
