Exclusive: MPs call for advisers' verdicts on RDR

IFAs should write to the Treasury select committee about their feelings on the success or failure of the retail distribution review (RDR), according to chair Nicky Morgan MP

IFAs should write to the Treasury select committee about their feelings on the success or failure of the retail distribution review (RDR), according to chair Nicky Morgan MP.

Speaking to New Model Adviser® at the end of last year, Morgan urged the financial advice profession to make its views known ahead of a formal Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) review of the RDR taking place this year.

'I think the first step is [that] if there are specific issues that people feel the FCA has not taken on board, or there are things that are not working, then yes, it doesn't have to be long, complicated evidence because we can always ask for more details.

'But it helps to alert us to the fact this is something that is an issue, and that actually this is something we should be asking more questions about.'

In the video above, you can listen to Morgan's remarks about that and the Financial Ombudsman Service, which the TSC is currently scrutinising following a damning Dispatches investigation last year.

If you want to write to the Treasury select committee, the email address is treascom@parliament.uk
